The Housing Authority Resident Scholarship supports the education of Public Housing residents and Section 8 tenants with financial assistance to pursue higher education at a 4-year university, community college, or vocational training program.
In 2017, LACDF awarded over $35,000 in scholarships to 33 Public Housing and Section 8 participants seeking higher education. Awardees were recognized during the 2017 Reality Check Conference held at The California Endowment Center in Los Angeles on July 20, 2017.
“The awarded scholars were selected for their academic excellence, community involvement, and their exceptional resiliency in overcoming life challenges to pursue their educational and career goals,” stated Sean Rogan, HACoLA Executive Director. “We are extremely proud to support them in their educational and career endeavors.”
This year’s awards were made possible through the generous donations of the California Community Foundation, Edison International, and employees of the Community Development Commission and HACoLA.
